Federal Trade Commission Report: more than $15 million lost to coronavirus scams
Fox 56 WOLF
WILKES-BARRE (WOLF) — According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), more than $15 million dollars has been stolen through coronavirus-related scams nationwide.
In a report released this week by the Federal Trade Commission, more than 600 incidents have been reported, however it is not just individuals they are targeting, scammers are also going after small businesses.
"I probably get two or three a day. Every time I go into my shop there is at least one or two messages," said Shawn Gilbert, owner of West Side Cut in Kingston.
West Side Cut on Wyoming Avenue in Kingston is one of many businesses closed right now and the calls keep coming in, but not from customers.
