CATOOSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A massive identity theft scheme was busted by the Catoosa Police Department. It's so big that investigators don't know how many people may be responsible.
It started with a simple check-up on two people at a Catoosa McDonald's.
"One was passed out in the bathroom; one was passed out in the lobby," said Brent Colbert with the Catoosa Police Department.
Officers quickly arrested 29-year-old Evan Crane and 23-year-old Chelsy Shaver for public intoxication. Police say Crane admitted he had a small bag of heroin on him but the biggest find came just moments later.
"Then, they found a ledger which contained people's checking account numbers, routing numbers, phone numbers, social security numbers, all kinds of stuff," said Colbert. "So, these people were big-time into identity theft."
