Man wanted in check fraud scheme arrested in Black River Falls

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WXOW) - A man wanted by authorities for setting up  fraudulent bank accounts and cashing fake checks in Western Wisconsin is caught in Jackson County. 

The Wisconsin Crime Alert Network sent out a release saying that on January 9, a man opened checking accounts at two banks in Menomonie. 

They said the man used a fake Georgia driver's license with the name of John Southwood to open the accounts and told employees at both banks that he was a truck driver. 

Three days later, he went into four branches of the Citizens State Bank in Hudson, Roberts, Woodville, and Elmwood and cashed checks totaling more than $11,000.
