The lengthy saga of a sophisticated bank fraud operation concluded yesterday as Kareim J. Coverson, 37, of Calumet City, Illinois, was sentenced to 41 months in prison for his role in a scheme that swindled businesses and financial institutions out of millions.
Coverson's sentencing by United States District Court Judge Phillip P. Simon brings an end to a case involving 10 defendants.
Coverson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and, in addition to his prison time, will serve two years of supervised release and pay $614,597.50 in restitution to the victims.
