Johns Hopkins University and Health System said it is investigating a recent cybersecurity attack that impacted its systems.

In a letter sent to the Hopkins community, officials said their cybersecurity team is working to investigate the attack, but an initial evaluation showed that the attack "may have impacted the information of Johns Hopkins employees, students and/or patients."

"Johns Hopkins takes the privacy and security of our community members extremely seriously. "We took immediate action to secure our systems, and we are working closely with a leading cybersecurity firm to investigate the attack," the letter said.
