Going to the State Fair for Senior Days at the Fair? Stop by the AARP booth in the Education Building to meet Marty Fleischhacker, Commerce’s senior fraud prevention ombudsman, and learn more about how to prevent senior fraud. Federal data shows consumers reported losing nearly $8.8 billion to scams in 2022, a 30 percent increase over 2021. Losses are likely much more because only 1 in 23 cases are reported to authorities. Commerce investigates senior fraud and works to prevent it. Check out Commerce’s senior financial fraud prevention toolkit.
