Fighting Fraud: How criminals try to bypass two-factor authentication

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Many of us use two-factor authentication to better protect our bank account or online information.
Having to type in a unique code sent to your cell phone or email gives you another layer of protection, but criminals are finding low tech ways around that protection.
This one can be tricky, because your bank will alert you either by text or phone call if someone makes suspicious charges on your account.
Here's what the con looks like:
Let's say you've set up your bank or credit card accounts with this protection online. You can only access them with a live code sent from the institution.
But if a cyber criminal has your username and password, they may call you, claiming to be from your bank to warn you of a potential problem.
