Man jailed after attempted bank robbery in Hoover

HOOVER — A Birmingham man who attempted a bank robbery in Hoover is behind bars tonight, according to Hoover Police. Ian Everett D’Arpa, 46, of Birmingham is being held without bond.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 4:47 p.m., the Hoover PD received a 911 call of an attempted robbery of a credit union located on Inverness Center Pkwy.

The suspect indicated that he was armed and demanded a large sum of money before leaving on foot. He was unsuccessful in leaving with any money.

A description of the suspect was relayed to Hoover Police officers and surrounding agencies who quickly responded to the area.

At 5:05 p.m., Hoover officers and deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to a restaurant in the 4600 block of Highway 280 on a report of a male who was acting erratically and had shattered the front door of the business.
