SUMMERSVILLE, WV (WOWK) – A man has been arrested in connection to a bank robbery in Nicholas County.

According to the Summersville Police Department, the investigation began Wednesday morning with a call of an armed bank robbery in progress in the Summersville area. The SPD says they were told the suspect gave the teller a note saying he was armed and was demanding money.

Officers say the 911 call stated the suspect was still on scene.

A criminal complaint from Nicholas County Magistrate Court said the note was written in a message on his cell phone. According to the complaint, the note allegedly read, “This is a Bank Robbery DO NOT PANIC! I just want a single dollar. I have a gun in my waist. please hand over a single dollar bill. I will sit in the lobby quietly for the police to arrest me. I’m homeless and this is my last resort. I mean absolutely no harm. I promise. I just need a place to sleep at night.”
