UPDATE: No robbery, but man did come out of the woods to accost woman in Detroit Lakes bank parking lot

dl-online.com

DETROIT LAKES — Detroit Lakes police have cleared the scene and called off a search for an armed man in connection with an incident at Midwest Bank on Friday.

Midwest Bank President Steve Daggett said that — contrary to some social media accounts — that the bank was not robbed, and in fact the suspect never entered the bank, but was involved in an incident in the back of the bank's parking lot, which is next to a forested area along the Pelican River.

"We called law enforcement and they got here quickly," he said. "There was nothing that happened at the bank, it was just at the back of the parking lot. We closed the lobby right after that. But with the pretty significant law enforcement presence, we felt comfortable reopening the lobby," Daggett said in a phone interview. The bank drive-thru also remains open, he said. The bank is located at 613 Highway 10 West.
