NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — Two Houston-area men are behind bars after New Braunfels police say they followed a woman home from a bank and robbed her in her driveway.
Police say the aggravated robbery happened Thursday morning after the woman returned home from the bank. As she got out of her vehicle, a man allegedly assaulted her and fought with her over her purse.
Investigators said the man and another suspect then took off in a small Chevrolet SUV.
New Braunfels police used a license plate reader system to track down the vehicle. When officers tried to arrest the two men, police say both ran.
One was quickly taken into custody, while the other ran into a wooded area. Officers used K9 and drone units to eventually find and arrest him.
Police identified the suspects as 22-year-old Mekhi McKinstry and 20-year-old Christian Woods. Both were charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest. Additional charges could be filed.
