Man charged after living and voting illegally in the country for 40+ years
Fox Chattanooga
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A man illegally in the country was arrested after assuming a stolen identity and using it to work and vote in Tennessee for 40+ years.
After entering the country in 1984, Canadian citizen Gregory Allan Porter assumed the identity of "Tony Wayne Ortiz," an American citizen.
The Department of Justice says Porter fraudulently obtained a birth certificate, Social Security number, Tennessee driver's licenses and U.S. passports.
Porter voted in numerous state, local and federal elections under that identity.
